This policy outlines how Blackstar handles your data when you use our age verification services. Blackstar is a private company that operates the crowdfunded community project, Blackstar Global Community, Store, and other related services.

Data Handling and Security

  • Data Access: The data you provide for age verification is only visible to the owner of Blackstar and authorized community managers. Every staff member with this access has signed a lifetime Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA). These contracts are legally binding and enforceable by law, including significant financial penalties and fines for any breach. The NDA strictly prohibits them from sharing, screenshotting, or releasing your data to any third parties, now or in the future.

  • ID Verification: All staff members with data access are personally ID-verified by the owner of Blackstar to ensure the highest level of trust and security.

  • Secure Contracts: These NDAs and other relevant contracts are digitally signed using platforms like Autentique, Xodosign, or similar secure services.

Verification Tiers and Data Retention

Blackstar offers multiple options for age verification, each with a different approach to data retention.

  • Standard Verification: Your age verification data is held securely on Yoti's systems, not on Blackstar's servers. This ensures your personal information is protected by a dedicated, trusted third-party service. The data is retained for a period of three (3) months from the date of submission. After this period, all personal data is permanently deleted from the Yoti systems. The only information we retain is the certificate provided by Yoti. These certificates contain minimal information—typically just your email and a confirmation that you have successfully passed or failed the verification. They do not contain your name, birthdate, or any other personally identifiable information.

  • Extra Privacy Option: With this option, we hold a much more limited amount of data. Blackstar only receives a certificate that confirms if you are adult only or under 18 (it does not show your specific age). This certificate also includes your email and a profile photo. Blackstar does not have access to your name or any other personally identifiable information with this verification method. This certificate is held indefinitely by Yoti, but remains inaccessible to us beyond the basic details mentioned.

  • Roblox, VRChat, and Other Platform Verifications: For verification methods involving third-party platforms like Roblox or VRChat, no personal data is held or stored by Blackstar. The sole purpose of this process is to grant you a Discord role that indicates you are of age for specific adult only channels and content.

Third-Party Data Sharing

We may, however, share your age status—specifically if you are adult only or under 18—along with your Discord username. This information is shared solely for API purposes, such as plugin connections or integrations that require age-gated access. This is typically done by assigning a specific Discord role, which is an action handled via the Discord API. Your real name and other sensitive data are not included in this process.

Legal Disclosure

Blackstar reserves the right to use or disclose this data in the event of a lawsuit or other legal proceedings. This is primarily to defend our company and community in legal battles, especially if we are sued by someone claiming a user is not of age.

Blackstar is proud to be verified by Yoti, a global leader in digital identity. We believe we are one of the first, if not the first, Discord communities in the world to implement Yoti verification for our community.

Your Rights and Responsibilities

By using our age verification service, you confirm that the information you provide is accurate and that you are the legal owner of the identity documents submitted. You have the right to request deletion of your data at any time, but be aware that this may result in the loss of access to adult only channels and features. We will do our best to honor such requests in a timely manner, in accordance with our data retention policy.
